The successful candidates will possess the following:
- Be qualified to work as a Paramedic in a public ambulance service in an Australian State or Territory or in New Zealand (includes those who have a primary paramedic qualification – e.g. Bachelor Degree in Paramedic or Health Science or equivalent);
- Have completed postgraduate studies and internships, leading to a qualification as an:
Intensive Care Paramedic (e.g. Graduate Diploma (ICP) or Masters (ICP)) N.B. depending on jurisdiction, this may include Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA), Paramedic, Clinical Manager (Royal Australian Navy), Intensive Care Paramedic (ALS), Level 5 Paramedic;
Retrieval Paramedic (e.g. Graduate Certificate (RP) or Masters (RP); N.B. depending on jurisdiction, this may include Flight Paramedic, Air Ambulance Paramedic, MICA Flight Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, Flight ICP, Aero Medical Evacuation Medic (ADF).
- Current Certification (i.e. less than three (3) years)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or equivalent
- Advanced Life/Cardiac Support (ALS or ACLS) Certification or equivalent
Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training and certification or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
Be able to demonstrate evidence of Skills Maintenance, as defined below:
- Have five (5) years’ work experience in Emergency Medicine
- Have three (3) years’ work experience in a Remote Location
Be up to date with additional accredited training or certifications listed below:
- Drug and Alcohol collection
- Audiometry
- Spirometry
- Nurse Immunization
- Worker’s Compensation Return to Work Course
- BOSIET
- Defensive Driving training
- Safety Together CSG Industry Induction
- X-ray Operator Course
- MISC
- Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene
- Current Driver’s License
