Casual Exercise Physiologist

North-care Physio has highly skilled physiotherapists, massage therapists, exercise physiologists and psychologists who specialize in a broad range of assessment and treatment services. The philosophy is to provide a high quality service, with adequate time to ensure effective treatment.

The casual position is based at the Salisbury Plain clinic which is a purpose-built center that includes a hydrotherapy pool facility, rehabilitation gymnasium, and pilates studio in conjunction with a large physiotherapy clinic. Working 25 – 30 hours per week, you will provide professional services in the area of exercise as a treatment strategy in physical rehabilitation, as a strategy for disease prevention, chronic disease management, assistance in improving daily living and work hardening as part of establishing and sustaining functional dependence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health and fitness assessments
• Customize programs to meet individual client’s needs and goals with a strong focus on sustainable outcomes and self-management
• Monitor and re-evaluate client’s progress towards goals and outcomes
• Identify needs that are not being met and referring (or recommending referral where appropriate) to internal services to assist clients with reaching their goals (i.e. dietitian)
• Responding to the needs of a broad range of clients with varying conditions
• Operate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Recognize and uphold the rights of all clients accessing services, including maintaining cultural sensitivity
• Building networks and marketing the business, both internally and externally
• Compliance with privacy and working with children legislation

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology
• Current ESSA Registration
• Current Australian driver’s license (clean)
• Current National Police and Working with Children Checks
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience interacting with a wide range of people
• Self-motivated; the ability to function independently
• Socially perceptive; aware of reactions of others and understanding of those reactions
