Emergency Services Officer – MMG, MMS Queensland

MSS Strategic Medical and Rescue is the emergency health and rescue division of MSS Security group of companies. MSS Security is one of Australia’s largest security and emergency response services companies with a national infrastructure and over 5,000 staff across Australia.

They are currently seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, multidisciplinary emergency services professionals residing in Townsville or Brisbane  to work in a full-time capacity as part of there growing team servicing for mining, energy and resources clients.

Emergency Services Officer MMG Queensland

MMS Paramedic/ESO Duties for Successful applicants:

  • Dedicated multidisciplinary, site based Emergency Services Officer (ESO) role
  • Lead first response to emergency incidents Paramedic
  • Participate and support Field Emergency Response Team training on site
  • Support site HSE activities (as required)

 Desired Skills and Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • RII30709 Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue, with minimum electives;
    • Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus i.e. BG4 or equivalent
    • Fire Fighting
    • Rescue from Heights / Depths
    • Confined Space Rescue & Structural collapse / Entrapment
    • Road crash rescue
    • Hazardous Materials
  • Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Licensed Security Officer, Queensland (to minimum of Certificate II in Security Operations) or currently working towards attaining
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing (Nationally Accredited Training)
  • Australian Drivers License (Manual, Medium Rigid)
  • 3+ Years’ experience in delivery of site emergency response services within the mining, construction or industrial setting & experience with underground operations & supervising emergency response teams
  • Health Requirements:
  • Completion & maintenance of client specific medical and health assessment
  • Personal Competencies:
  • Excellent customer service, presentation & interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lead & both work in a team environment & or autonomously
  • Ability to work undertake a rotational roster with 12 hour shifts & on-call
  • Ability to work to client Fatigue Management Policies
  • Sound computer skills – MS word, excel etc.
  • Other Desirable Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Experience in working in & around underground mining operations
  • Previous professional experience working in the emergency services industry – (Fire Services, Defence Force or Mines Rescue)
  • Safety and training background, experience or exposure highly regarded
