SIMEC Mining is a wholly owned subsidiary of GFG Alliance and has operations in Whyalla, South Australia and Tahmoor, New South Wales. Commodity portfolio consists of mining and mineral processing plants across multiple locations from pit to port.
About the Role
They are currently seeking candidates for the role of Emergency Services Officer. Reporting to the Emergency Services Co-ordinator and working across the mining operations you will be responsible for the ongoing development of our emergency response capability.
You will be charged with providing skills maintenance and delivering national accredited training to our voluntary emergency response team members as well as actively promoting the team and working with operational leaders to ensure ongoing recruiting of new members meets site requirements.
You will also be required to complete audits and inspections and to generate reports for site leadership teams to provide visibility on the adequacy and availability of emergency response plant, equipment and supplies.
As part of the larger SIMEC Mining Health and Safety team you will actively participate in the delivery of the Health and Safety Team Business plan and contribute to ongoing continual improvement projects and activities as required. This role is residential and currently rostered as a 5:2 role. For the right candidate, there is the possibility to negotiate a flexible work arrangement.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance)
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (or appropriate individual competencies)
- Driver’s License – National MR class
- National Police Certificate (Poisons Permit requirement)
- Experience as an emergency response team member / leader within mining or similar industry
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Cert IV Trainer and Assessor
- A working knowledge of industrial / state based emergency response policy, protocols and procedures (or ability to rapidly acquire)
