IGO is a leading Australian diversified mining company, listed on the ASX that produces gold, nickel, copper, zinc and silver.
They are currently in need of Emergency Services Officer to join their vibrant HST team at Jaguar.
Reporting to HST Manager, this is a permanent full-time position on a 8 days on 6 days off roster, flying in and out of Perth.
The Jaguar Operation was acquired by IGO in 2011. The Operation originally comprised the Jaguar and Bentley zinc-copper-silver-gold underground mines and processing facility.
The Jaguar Operation is an owner operated mechanised underground mine that uses predominantly long-hole stoping with backfill.
Mining is carried out using a fleet of 1700 Caterpillar Load Haul Dumps excavators and 60t Caterpillar trucks and other support equipment. Ore is hauled to surface by truck to ore stockpiles and then transported to the nearby Jaguar mill for processing.
The Emergency Services Officer will fulfill the following:
- Facilitate Injury Management including liaising with other health professionals, supporting injured workers, administering and monitoring Return to Work Plans that enhance workers ability to return to full capacity in the most effective manner;
- Support timely Injury Incident Investigations, and associated reporting;
- Assist the Site Registered Nurse with biological monitoring and wellness assessments;
- Providing strong leadership to the site Emergency Response Team (ERT), including developing and facilitating Emergency Response Training;
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining emergency response procedures and systems;
- Conducting scheduled inspections and stocktakes of all on site Mines Rescue equipment including the Mine Ambulance, Fire Truck and ordering supplies;
- Ensuring that training is developed and delivered in accordance with the relevant legislation and company policies; and
- Develop, review and facilitate risk assessments and rescue plans for confined spaces.

Jaguar Operation employees travel to site in comfort of their weekly charter flights to Leonora or on commercial flights where necessary. On arrival at Leonora airport, after the short flight from Perth, airport coaches transfer employees direct to the Jaguar Village which takes approximately 40 minutes.
Jaguar Village Facilities
The Jaguar Village is located 6kms from the Jaguar Operations site office and provides employees with a comfortable home away from home. Whilst at work and living in the Village employees are provided with all accommodation and meals.
The Village has a total of 260 fully or semi ensuited (shared bathroom facilities between 2 individual rooms) rooms. Regardless of room type each room has a number of standard items that are supplied in each including and include air-conditioner, television aerial point, bar fridge and all bed linen, towels and soap.
The Jaguar Village also provide a range of services and leisure activities to make their employees time away from home more comfortable. These include:
- Multi Purpose Court – with a variety of sporting equipment available for use;
- Pool – open from 6am – 9.00pm daily;
- Wireless Internet Access – around the Village;
- Mobile Phone – excellent mobile phone coverage is provided around the Village via the Telstra Next G Mobile Service.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role in the underground mining environment;
- Degree in Paramedical Science or Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance);
- RII30709-Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment;
- Drug and Alcohol Testing (Nationally Accredited Training)
- Proven track of successfully leading an ERT Team;
- Previous experience in Mine Rescue, Emergency Response, and site Medic responsibilities (Underground Experience would be an advantage);
- Proven experience in developing and delivering emergency response training material to suit individual needs;
- A sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements;
- The ability to build immediate credibility with the workforce from diverse backgrounds;
- Ability to work well under pressure with stretch targets and timely delivery of projects and tasks assigned to the role;
- Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated IT Skills including medical database and safety systems; and
- “MR” Class Drivers Licence.
