Choosing a career as a Paramedic or Nurse is very rewarding; and for many reasons. The HLT51015 – Diploma of Paramedical Science and HLT41115 – Certificate IV in Health Care are becoming the new standard for mining ESO careers; and there are further qualifications and training you need to do before you can start to apply for these types of jobs. But you have to start somewhere – careers are not given, they’re created and nurtured.
This sample job asks for AHPRA registered practitioners, however, to begin your health care career, studying the Diploma of Paramedical Science can give you the skills and knowledge to begin working in the private sector; and even allow you to get into university to study the Bachelor of Paramedic Science, which you need to become a registered Paramedic. Nursing is a little different of course.
The job
Seeking an AHPRA Registered Paramedic with a minimum Diploma in Paramedical Science; with 3 years experience in Emergency Ambulance Services (State Ambulance), Defence Medical, Remote Area Health or equivalent field.
Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) and successful completion of a Paramedic Internship (minimum 1 year in Emergency Ambulance role) or minimum 2 years in Defence Medical, Remote Area Health or equivalent field.
Note: as a Paramedic, you’ll be required to be degree-qualified, or prove many years experience in the field.

IMS is a leading provider of services to the Mining, Oil & Gas and Construction Industry delivering services on small scale exploration projects all the way through to large scale construction and production.
As a result of significant growth and increased activities across Australia, they are seeking applications from experienced Paramedics and Registered Nurses to work on a FIFO (Fly In/Fly Out) basis on regular rotations across a range of unique locations.
Working in a remote environment, you will be responsible for the Emergency Response and Remote Area Health for the site and surrounding areas.
We are seeking candidates who are based in South Australia and Queensland as these are the primary locations of FIFO, however candidates from other States are also encouraged to apply.
- Queensland positions are also available DIDO.
- Rosters available: 8/6, 2/2 or 3/3
- Remuneration up to $125,000 plus superannuation
Minimum Qualification Criteria:-
Registered Nurses
Division 1 Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration with the Nurses & Midwifery Board of Australia.
Desirable ( Not essential for all roles)
– Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE)
– Certificate IV or Diploma in OHS / EHS
– BOSIET / HUET
Candidates should provide a current National Police Clearance (or provide evidence that application has been made).
A current unrestricted drivers licence is essential and must be able to drive a manual vehicle as successful candidates will be provided with a 2 day 4WD – Operate Vehicles in the Field – driver training.
Candidates must be fit for work in a remote and challenging environment.
