The diploma is popular because on average it takes 18-24 months to complete; even less if you have the time to knuckle down and really get the work done. Not being tied to a strict curriculum, students can choose when and where they study because of the blended-learning style. The majority of the course can be completed online, with only 2 clinical workshops and 2 x 80 hour blocks of clinical placement (supervised work experience) required.
Since Paramedic registration was introduced, more and more employers are looking for this level of compliance when seeking new workers. One way to achieve registration is to complete the diploma, then use it to get into university to complete a Bachelor of Paramedic Science degree. In most cases, if you choose to study a diploma first, you can be credited for the subjects already completed, saving time and money.

IHMS is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Paramedic to assist us working at our offshore Immigration Detention Centre clinic.
